My favorite source for the origin of English words.

If i wanted to say something like
“My actions remain a mystery / secret, even to myself”
using the word Geheimnis
in the sense that even i don’t understand why i do something.
“mein Verhältnis beliebt ein Geheimnis, für mich auch.”
Does that work ?
Or translating
“The person is a mystery unto themselves”
does this work ?
“Der Mensch ist für sich ein Geheimnis”
Yes, but it’s “mein Verhalten”… though your “Verhalten” might be in fact a “Verhältnis” ;)
But “Rätsel” is the more idiomatic pic for these contexts.
Thanks. I actually thought “Verhalten” then wrote “Verhältnis”. Doh!
