Hi. I really liked this exercise! I did quite well but several of my answers were marked wrong even though they were right :( For two of them I had the order perfect and the result shown was either all wrong, or 3 wrong. And for another one I just swapped the last two sentences but it was marked all wrong.
Yeah, it’s super buggy!!
Toller Test!!
Here you go :)

Super, danke!
But the second example worked correctly.
John
The first example failed in the manner that you predicted. It reproduced my chosen order but labeled it as incorrect.
John
The ability to move the sentences around is fun.
The fact that the colours do not agree with the answer letters has already been noted to be glitchy, so I’m sure you can get it fixed.
Overall, this was a fun confirmation of ability, but not sure how much one could learn if one got them wrong. That’s what makes it appropriate for the Advent Calendar, which is a really fun feature on your site!
Hi. A few times I got thevlabel “incorrect” although my answers matched the letters – huh?
As I said in the article… the software is buggy. This was also a test run, and it clearly failed. Ignore the labels, just judge by the letters I put there. That’s the CORRECT order.
I really liked this quiz. I based my answers on what sounded right/wrong, which ended up giving me a lot of confidence in that I’m starting to develop an ear for what’s idiomatic and what’s not. I had a hard time distinguishing between bad and really bad on two of them, though.
Well, that’s awesome!!! And don’t worry about the not idiomatic ones. I’d say it’s GOOD that you don’t have an ear for it.
Actually, I think even native speaker don’t have an ear for that. They’d need some time to decide which sounds more strange to them because they’re used to neither.
Hey !
I like the ease of putting them in order but I do think it was a bit buggy. I know I would not make some of the idiomatic errors – maybe I didn’t understand how to order the sentences completely. It would say “Incorrect” and would show teh order I placed them in. However, it is a nice concept !
Yeah, it’s a bug fest, actually. I’m really disappointed.
Got really odd results! I got most of them catastrophically wrong (no surprises there!) but the results just quoted back the same order to me. So if I said the order was A B C D then the result was Incorrect A B C D. So what was that all about then?
As I said, the software appears to be buggy. What matters is the solution I mentioned, the letters. Ignore what the software is doing.
I got evry oneright. (I have read your blogs on word order.)l Howeverl, the quiz app marked every one of them wrong.
Hooray for you, booooo for the app!!
One of the hardest quizzes to date. I got 2 out of 5.
Did you get the idiomatic ones, though?
It’s a fun quiz, but where it puts the answers in the correct order then marks as wrong the ones you had in a different order is confusing. I thought it was showing me what I’d put and marking it! The note of the correct order at the end helped me to sort it out but I couldn’t always remember what I’d put where which would have been helpful.
Maybe a few tweaks, even just to giving you a note of what you’d put, would make it even better. I had fun doing it.
Just marking the order you did is the idea, but something is badly wrong. I need to reach out to the developpers once Christmas is over.
Enjoyed that as the correct word order always causes me to pause when speaking. Got the most idiomatic right in all of them so thats pleasing and 65% overall. More of those types of quizzes would be welcome.
I used Chrome while taking the quiz and the software gave me incorrect feedback at two points; According to the answer I mixed up the order for two sentences on question 3, but the software showed green borders for all the sentences. On question 5 I answered correctly but the software showed red borders for two of the sentences. Other than that, the drag-and-drop format is nice :).
Leider funktioniert es nicht ganz richtig. Mein Antworten waren 4 von 5 mal korrekt, aber jedesmal sagt es “Inkorrekt”. Macht nichts, war spass, danke !! -)
They all seemed to mark correctly except for questions four and five – it marked them wrong even though I had the correct order.
Not sure whether it’s me that’s inconsistent or the quiz system. I think it responded differently to the same answers on one question when I went around again. Still, it thought I got more right than wrong both times, and that I got through the magical fog successfully, so I’m not inclined to argue.
Question 2 brought thoughts of Yoda.
It’s the freaking system :/. It looks like something is really really wrong with it.
Did it again and got the same wrong results on the third question – which, according to the answer key are not as incorrect as the red boxes claim – BACD and I chose BADC. According to the red boxes, the B is also falsch, but it isn’t according to the letter order. Hmmm…
All I really care about was getting the first two correct in each question, and I did according to the letter order – even if the red boxes on the test claim otherwise.
Yeah, going by all the comments I think we can consider this trial a failure. It’s unusable with these kinds of bugs.
Very Veird… Got all but #3 correct – How on EARTH was I able to to that! As any professor at Uni – my German is horrible! There is no way I could have gotten ANY right, but I did!
BUT… The last one claimed I got two in the wrong order but I had the same order as the answer ADHS I think it was. Tried to take a screen shot to show you but I pressed the wrong button and found myself on another page and went back and got hijacked on the way and Oh. My. God.
Point being: the last one claimed my answer was wrong but I had the same order as your correct answer.
Number three I botched. Totally.
When the time comes when I can confidently begin a spoken sentence with “sich” on its own followed by the verb usw… that will be a good day.
Hahaha… it does feel very fulfilling. But you only need to do it once a year, and usually with “mir”.
