for question 8, what do you mean by “r versions”
whoops, didnt see that this was already answered!
Was ist r-version?
Many prefix verbs like “aufgehen” or “ausmachen” have a version with “r”… raufgehen, rausmachen.
Those, I call r-versions. I don’t have a dedicated article about them yet, but I talk about them a lot on the posts of the “Prefix Verbs Explained” series.
Whoa! I totally did NOT do well on this test. However, I did go back and learn from all of my mistakes. I like that it’s NOT I didn’t do well, it’s that I learned WHY I did not do well.
Ich habe 6 von 10 richtig geleistet.
Das ist Durchschnitt :). Aber lieber “gemacht” als” geleistet”
6 correct… some of them by luck hahaha
Thanks. Great to be able to learn whilst playing.
Des wor zah! Ich habe acht von zehn richtig beantwortet.
Das ist ziemlich gut, ey!
Ganz beliebig – oft kann verschiedene Denkweise verschiedene Antworten geben. Zu skurril, um richtig zu sein – this is more lf a test to see if we can guess what you were thinking than anything else.
A better option would be to motivate as many odd words out in each group as one can – claiming there is only one correct answer is just too bizarre.
Well I totally get your point, but are there really THAT many options coming from a purely German grammar based angle?
Nice idea about arguing one’s own solution though. Maybe I’ll do that some time. It’s actually easier for me because I can just pick four random words and let you all argue it out in the comments :)
That sound much more appealing. Freue mich darauf!
well five out of ten terrible
Actually, it’s average, I would say :)
I had only three but could have 4 because the finger touched the screen before I decided. I love German and like doing this exercise as it helps me give the language a new start.
Hahahaha… nice. If a hard exercise like this one is the start and you enjoy it, it can actually only get easier for you :)
Wie viel kennen jemand diese Wörter nicht? Ich bin tatsächlich einer. Komisch, oder?
Question 2 just gives “correct” or “incorrect”, but no explanation. Is there no explanation? :-)
Oh, I forgot to add that one.
The explanation is that “wenn” is NOT a question word while all the others are. You can’t start a question with “wenn”.
OK, I admit it. I guessed my way through and got 50% right. I am a rank beginner, though, and really appreciate the explanations. Maybe in a couple of months, I’ll understand them. LOL!
For a beginner, this quiz is almost impossible :). Good to see that guessing is still reliably 50 in 2020 :D
TOTALLY EMBARRASED. Only 2 right….
Don’t be Embarrassed!! It’s a really hard quizz after all, especially if it’s the first of its kind that you’ve tried. Please do not take that as a measure of where you stand with your German, because it isn’t!
My mathness is coming out…#3 I went for number of syllables. Silly me
I got 6 right, but some for the wrong reasoning. That’s why I never gave multiple choice tests. :}
Someone else mentioned that as well. I honestly didn’t notice.
Matness is a great word, by the way :D
So great that I even misspelled it right away
Mit diesem Quizz ist es mir wirklich klar, daß ich Deutsch vom Sprechen und nicht in einer Klasse, oder von einem Buch gelernt habe. Trotzdem machte es Spaß. Kurz um, dieser ganze Advent-bumpsdings macht Spaß.
Ach, auch Leute, die vom Buch gelernt haben, haben hier Probleme :).
Eigentlich ist es ein “wie gut kennst du Emanuel’s Grammar Mind” Quiz :)
8/10. I choose zart (correctly) because the comparitive doesn’t have an umlaut, unlike härter, wärmer and kälter.
The prefix question – had no idea. #10 I choose morgen because it’s in the future (sort of), but clearly that was too obvious.
Danke – das hat Spaß gemacht.
Seven out of ten, and three were right for the wrong reason!
Pretty solid! I don’t have a native speaker result yet, but I think that’s about how a German would do in this quiz.
I went with meaning (what a fool) not grammar, and lost. Wetter (hartes, warmes, kaltes but not zartes…). We don’t have that kinda weather in these parts. ( :
Oh, wow, you really got creative :). But at least to me, if there’s “hartes Wetter” then there’s also “zartes Wetter”.
What parts are you from, anyway?
