Vielen Dank!
I really really like the idea of building my flash card list. Yes!
Thank you! And you too, Daniel.
Super Idee! Ich freue mich auf solches Archiv um einen besseren Überblick zu haben. Und die Flashcards wären wirklich das Sahnehäubchen:). Dies würden viel helfen beim Lernen.
I’ve probably been a member for a year but had no idea about all these articles!
So amazing! Hopefully there will be an easy way of getting to them on your site somewhere, rather than having to look it up through the 23 Dec 2019 Advent Calendar post…
Regarding flashcards, I use Anki, and I put sentences as well as just vocab on it.
With any given English sentence, there are not usually 50 different correct German ways of rendering it. Just 2-3 for most sentences. They can all be given on the back of the card. Memorising idiomatic German sentences is useful IMHO.
Naturally, Emanuel, if you made flashcards they’d be better than the Anki ones.
Thank you for doing all this great work. Amazing, and very helpful!
Fröliche Weihnachten!
They’re not all separate articles. The links lead to the article that the word is mentioned in, but the articles themselves are all accessible through the regular archive pages. So no hidden new content :)
I’d love some Flashcards!!!
Congratulations on this new thing!!! It sounds great!
Hi,
Das ist wirklich toll, aber kann ich es benutzen?
Ja, kannst du. Aber du musst dir diesen Link merken, denn es ist nicht “normal” zu finden, bevor es fertig ist.
I’m confused about the “for members” box. I press it snd nothing happens.
It’s accessible only for members. They don’t see this overlay :)
Supertoll! Vielen Dank!
Very, very useful/useable and informative. Brilliant.
This is a great idea and it’s going to be so useful!
Bei der Liste fehlt der.Eintrag ”Unheilig'”!
Etwas. besonders ist zu hören–
So zu sagen
nichts sonderbares sondern wunderbares!

Der GRAF!! Wir war’n geboren um zu leben (und lernen) und Bernd Heinrich Graf zu hören!
Managed it. Just became a unicorn.
great, welcome on board :)
Brilliant.!!! I want to become a member – I know the instructions must be here somewhere – to support your work. New Year’s resolution – to go back and try to relearn languages that I used to know something about! German – very difficult -so I admire all of you on here who come out with stuff I struggle to comprehend.
Thanks E and Happy Christmas.
I looked for my favourite German word … Ausgezeichnet
Please add it so I can congratulate you !!
OK, I just did !!!
Amazing work – Yabla does something similar but only in newsletters for a few words.
There is then a link of a few words to their videos containing those words.
Your Archive is so much more comprehensive with amazing links to your articles.
Your list is so beautifully arranged and easy to use … resulting from your hard efforts.
For your future in 2020 and beyond (to keep the elves happy) :-
Video articles
German synonyms
English synonyms
(Though dict.cc already does this so synonyms are easy to find there)
Video Articles are my big wish for my 2020 letter to Santa Emanuel
Also in Google, if you type in “ausgezeichnet meaning” you get the results below,
so maybe there is no point in your team spending time reinventing the wheel,
when details are so freely available in dict.cc, google, and other sites.
Maybe, after all, it is best for you to focus on your unique style of analysis,
giving you a great point of difference – I mean an outstanding point
of difference – which you already have compared to all the
other people in the language market.
If your humour and clarity can continue in written articles
and maybe in videos that would be enough happiness !
Congratulations on a superb amount of work !!
Emanuel and Daniel you have made my Christmas !!

Nice. I think it would be cool to do a similar thing with all the example sentences you’ve ever written.
Yes … Jake’s idea would be super super super cool … including any related multiple choice quiz for that word and a cumulative scoring system for each user !! A Leader-board of user scores would be great also. Now that the elves have nothing else to do in 2020 :-)
One last crazy thought … I would love to see tables comparing words in German, English, French, Italian and Spanish, followed later by all the other European, Asian and World languages. There are 1.3 billion potential members in China and you would only need one Euro from each of them :-)
How great it would be if we could see Emanuel and an elve or 2 or 3 … in a live streaming format like this one for Spanish learners –
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jfnetBImDfY&feature=em-lbcastemail
Uff, I know.. I actually want that, but we need a way to make it happen.
What an incredible amount of work! The flashcard system would be wonderful. Thanks for all you do for us. Frohe Weihnachten!
Es is ein sehr klein nützliches Lexicon. Ich vermute das einreichen würde . Das hängt auf Möglichkeiten des Sofware an.
Jeder grösser Werk begint mit kleinen Etape ! Viel Glück daraufhin!
Hiya,
This is a VERY, VERY, VERY good idea!! Thank you (and Daniel) for coming up with this and making it real, it’s soooo incredibly useful.
Only one question: I know this is still beta, but why is are the first few entries not in alphabetical order (e.g, the first entry is “nicht für voll nehmen”)?
I’m sure this glossary will be much appreciated by all of us!
Bis morgen!
Oh, I forgot to add that a flashcard system would be wonderful! However, I did try the other one you mentioned in one of your Advent Calendar articles. Although I found it useful, I also found that asking us to translate a whole sentence in German can be a bit misleading, as multiple translations sometimes apply and we’ll just assume we’re wrong if we don’t use the exact one they give us… Not sure how this problem could be solved though…
Ha… this problem can only be solved by avoiding sentences. It’s like you say… there are many versions most of the time and either you enter all of them into your app or you leave it out. Not to forget the typos.
In my opinion a vocab trainer should train vocab, nothing else. Not sentence formation or pronunciation.
There’s probably a space before the first entries. Spaces as well as paranthesis are alphabetically speaking before the actual letters in the computer world. The reflexives are one of the things we are thinking how to include without “()”
I remember when I asked why you stopped fact sheets at article ends. You said you planning sth big. I think WE FINALLY GOT IT
Yes, that was what I meant. With the data base, I can create this little vocab snippet at the end automatically with code. So there’s no need to handtype it in the editor and that’s why I stopped because I didn’t want to take it out.
And also… I am LAZY!
I wouldn’t say teaching thousands of words and expressions is lazy ;)
