Could you say that Maria lacht sehr viel . . . implying that she laughs often and intensely?
“sehr viel” sounds like “very often”, so you’re just intensifying the “viel”. But you’re not saying something about the intensity of the laughter.
When will the exercises for this lesson be ready?
It’s out already. Day 11.

I like this blog even more because you like Moodyman. Respect.
He’s a genius. I saw him Dj in August, actually. So funny :)
Being native Slav (descendant of slaves, perhaps!, who knows) I thought “I like it a lot” is kind of street slang, and the proper English is “I like it much” just like proper German “Ich mag es sehr”. But then how would it go in German “I like it very much”?
“Ich mag es sehr sehr”
Nah, kidding :). To intensify the “sehr” you’d use “wirklich” or “echt”. So in perfect cringe-english
– I like it really very.
On second thought it should be „Toller Track“ if it is to be declined at all.
Perfect!!!
Great track! Love the drum riff near the end.
Tollen Track! Der Trommelriff gegen Ende gefällt mir.
Is „tollen“ declined properly? German is a minefield.
“Toller”. It’s nominative ;).
Interestingly, Slavic languages seem to side with German on this one
Is there a different intensifier for sleep? Such as in English we might say I sleep soundly or I slept deeply or even I slept well.
For “deep” it would be “tief” and for “well” it’s “gut”.
How about when you use them both together. Das mag ich sehr viel lit very much.
No that doesn’t work, because you’re just cranking up the volume on “viel”. It’s still “viel” that’s describing the verb and so it’s still wrong.
Very! Such a funny word.

I that proper English???
*Is
No – definitely not. “Very” cannot modify a verb on its own. It is popular to slip an expletive into “How dare you!” e.g. “How bloody dare you!”. Here, the “very” keeps that syntax while sparing us the foul language AND revealing the utterer (the Catherine Tate character “Derek” – rampantly gay but believes it to be a secret) to be pompous and illiterate.
Of course not. That sounds completely ridiculous.
