“Frohe Weihnachten” *** *** Hallo ihr lieben, door number 24, the last door of the Advent Calendar and just like is the tradition, behind this door is… drumroll… Freizeit und ein Danke! Seriously, the stores are still open but I’m from East Germany, and traditionally Christmas is today, on the evening of the 24th, and it’s not a day for working or learning. So yeah… thanks a lot for joining me for the calendar this year and for all your feedback and the comments and all. We’ll do the yearly oracle next week, so stay tuned. But for now, have a relaxed and peaceful Christmas, and if have an argument over dinner… make sure to win :). And if you don’t celebrate, have a few relaxed days, and if you’re in Germany, go outside and enjoy just how quiet and deserted the cities seem. It’s a special mood you don’t get to see except for on Christmas. Oh and for those of you who have to work… I hope you have relaxed shifts and a good flow, and if you work hospitality, then I wish you some relaxed customers and no drama. I’ll probably do some work myself, because I…

All the versions are cool but the highlight is the doggie at the end
Lieber Emmanuel,
Hallo! Ich bin neu hier. Vielen Dank an meine Sponsoren! Your generosity allows me access to an invaluable resource. Now that my wits may show themselves worthy of the task of using this gift wisely. Nochmal vielen dank!
Frohe Weihnachten für alle! Just wanted to say a big thank you to all the sponsors who, with their generosity, allow students like me (and the like) to have access to this site and, consequently, to great content and a big boost in our German adventure. :)
As an old school Adams fan, I have to go with that. The pianist is good and gets a lot of musical aspects spot on for all the composers. Too bad the Adams wasn’t fully orchestrated – I feel that is where his voice (at least in my mind) really speaks. I know the early piano pieces, but they just don’t say as much
I agree, Adams orchestrated is a different beast. I do like this piano snippet, but I probably wouldn’t like it as much if he had Adam-ed it into epic oblivion :)
That was fantastic! Thanks
That music analysis is such fun! And brilliant!
Merry Christmas and thank you!

Same lady, but longer. And the ones that are time stamped as Rachmaninoff are woooowww. She really has a sense of humor.
Some very interesting variations of the jingle bell theme!
Bach, Bach, Bach ist der Beste!
Frohe Weihnachten für ihr lieben .
Super-fun video: it’s a *Ravel* for me, and maybe I’ll throw a *Webern* in your direction, though I’d be very, very hard-pressed to justify that choice. Slightly contrarian, perhaps, but *considered/calculated/controlled* contrarianism.
Ha, very interesting!
I do have a bit of a fascination for Webern, but I haven’t yet had that moment where it “clicked”. I am intrigued though, and I did use Webern as samples back when I was producing hip hop with my friends. I really don’t like Schönberg, but Webern … there’s something there, I just don’t get it yet.
Here, my favorite was John Adams. Usually, he is too “much” and to grand for me, but if it’s just a piano, these chords are similar to the soundscapes of house and techno, which is where my soul is.
Ravel and Debussy are my favorite classical composers overall.
Wow, you produced hip-hop! Who is your fav German rapper?
Back in the day, it was King Cool Savas, but right now I don’t have one. I don’t listen to German rap anymore, I find it very very very not innovative.
Wow! An amazing video. I’ve always wanted to understand (on any level) what made each composer sound like they do. I come for German but get my mind blown on something else entirely. Well worth the subscription. Looking forward to your thoughts/project with Chat GPT.
Frohe Weinachten und Vielen Dank für alles. Du haust mich immer um!
*Weihnachten
If you find this kind of style analysis interesting, you should definitely check out the channel of the woman who made it.
She has several other videos like this and also some where she specifically analyses and shows what makes a composer sound like he does.
Here’s a really long one for “Happy Birthday”

Vocab word of the day –
seems perfect for December 24
Verlegenheitsgeschenk – last minute present
Toller Adventskalender wie jedes Jahr…jeden Tag ein Laecheln. Vielen Dank und Frohe Weihnachten.
Emanuel, welche ist dein Lieblings? :)
Vielen dank für unsere Kalendar! Es war toll.
Frohe Weihnachten, und ein gutes Rutsch!
:) Camille
Mozart!!!
This was a fascinating video. I have a favorite album that features several Christmas songs in the style of Mozart. It seems the group only did that one album…so sad.
We have Christmas dinner today, and leftovers and presents tomorrow. Two days of partying!! My family all get along well, so it’s lots of fun.
Happy Christmas and Merry New Year everyone!
Frohe Weihnachten!
Since you’re a modern guy? :)
Ja, genau. Aber normalerweise wäre Gershwin oder Ravel. Adams is a bit too much for me usually.
A holy evening filled with yuletide cheer –
Down the hatch with a Christkindlbier!
Right on down!
