Should have been: Cari n’Jer’y (because I did actually know his real name!).
I miss this worldview every day I am back in the States!
Danke für die lieben Worte. Wir geben uns Mühe!!
Aaaaaaaaw!!! Das ist verrückt! :D
CAAAARIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!
Oh yummy Seedlang!
(sung to the tune of 99 Red Baloons)
“Cheesy” I can not supply
when it comes to Seedlang praise.
For just one so simple reason:
it is just too unique and cool!
“Cheesy” now means “cheap and tawdry” —
Seedlang is the opposite.
They are awesome, they are fun!…
Ema, friend, there is no “cheesy” there!
Language learning & native speakers,
without immersion overload…
This is what we’ve all been seeking:
finally it’s time to learn!
While I’m waiting for the laundry
or my husband’s next email:
I’ll just cue up Cari n’ Jerry,
and my “perfect German” gets closer every day…
Cheese is ripe and cheese is tasty,
Sometimes it’s like therapy.
A good bleu can tickle my tastebuds,
and the Allgau clears the room!
Seedlang is a nice aged cheddar,
always sharp and never dull.
Clear and deeply satisfying,
new language from a friend and not a foe.
Thank you Ema for generously
sharing this wedge of wonder with us all!
Hahahahahahaa….. beautiful. I tried singing it in my head :).
Omg, so great! Hahaha, so much creativity and sweetness. And I love that we are “Cari n’ Jerry”. Sounds like we will be getting into the “Eis” business soon!
Sounds a bit like “carin’ Jerry”, or “carryin’ Jerry”… truly a good title for a sit com :)
Hey Essleigh! Congrats on a free Seedlang membership! And just a FYI that in the future when Seedlang has an office, this is getting framed and put on our wall :)
EasyGerman are amazing, I watch their clips nearly every day on my way to work and multiple times. I used to use Duolingo and then discovered EasyGerman in YouTube. It’s great to have real people talking about real topics. The dual subtitles also make it so useful.
Bis zum nächsten mal
Sarah
Seedlang is fun with great quality quirky videos. Carey, Jeremy and Janusz keep me motivated by their energy and liveliness. Too often language learning is boring, if there is anything we need when studying it is a bit of fun and joy in learning.
What a great comment DrFrog, thanks so much!
Erste Mal zu kommentieren! Ich liebe diesen Blog und den Adventskalender!
Janusz and Cari are übercoolThey teach me stuff I never learned in school
They talk to die Menschen on the street
Someday ich würde Sie gerne meet
They like to travel all over the world
And meet Zuschauer that have heard
Their YouTube Kanal is the best
Much more fun and hilfreicher than the rest
Cari has a smile that rivals die Sonne
Her cheerful demeanor is worth eine Tonne
When she speaks her Muttersprache it sounds clear and nice
Ich muss selten rewind to hear her speak twice
Janusz is jolly and sehr intelligent
Seine Interviews haben a philosophical bent
Er spielt die Gitarre, I'm not sure how well
But for the sake of das Kompliment I'll say he excells.
One day a new friend found J and C
This guy was persistent, his name was Jeremy.
He had eine Idee, that change the world könnte
Für Deutschlerner everywhere, if he could start heute (viel Spaß rhyming with könnte!)
He had the technology, he was really smart
He just needed das Team to make this work of art
Endlich sein Meisterwerk Seedlang was born
Thrilling the masses with its schöne Form
Of course we can't leave out our dear friend Emanuel
For multiple reasons we all think he's sehr swell.
His marvelous acting, deinem süßen Akzent,
The way he explains what that word really meant.
Danke ihr lieben, you've done so much for us
And ehrlich zu sein, you deserve a chorus
Of gratitude, so I hope this poemlike thing
Has brought you a smile, because it's ending!
Oh. My. God. This is BRILLIANT!! Haha, you made me laugh with this. Cari will love it too!!!
I’m so glad you like it!! :D
Elizabet, MARRY ME! Darling, you are brilliant! I know where one of the three prizes is going!
Stop marrying my audience :D:D:D
Aww shucks… :D Guess I should break out the poetry more often! ;)
Hey Elizabet! Congrats on a free Seedlang membership! And just a FYI that in the future when Seedlang has an office, this is getting framed and put on our wall :)
Juuhuuu!!! Das freut mich sehr sehr sehr… VIELEN DANK!!! I can’t wait to finish some decks! And I’m deeply honored to contribute to your future decor. :) PS: feel free to change “excells” to “excels” and “deinem” to “seinem” — it was midnight when I wrote it and the night-shift proofreading crew missed a few spots. ;) THANKS AGAIN!!! :D :D :D
I vote for mattk421 to win first prize!
You can vote all you want. Putin will decide!
I can speak from experience. I have been very frustrated with Duo Lingo and I read your review. I decided to give it a try. I really liked what I saw and decided to subscribe. Janusz and Carey are the best of the best and even better. As good as Gruyere cheese (you said to get cheesy with it). I am in there every day. By the way I see that you are in a couple of the skits as well. I have also seen you in one of their You Tube clips; the one about Berliners. I am finding the classes particularly helpful with my speaking. Carey is always so upbeat. And I love the the skit with you and Janusz in the restaurant. “Wollen Sie wirklich alles von der Karte haben?”
Oh, I never saw that one. Now that you mentioned it, I do remember shooting it, but I never actually got to see it :). I only remembered the bathrobe stuff.
Emanuel the comedic actor and Emanuel the game show host are two of my favorite things!
Try again!
Ich sehe kein Problem :) Vielen Dank Paul!
Cari is like a nice Butterkäse – nutty and sweet. Janusz is a pungent Rauchkäse – calls to mind thoughts of good times und Grillparties. Jeremy is wie Emmentalkäse – sharp.
I would ove to have a seedlang membership.
Someone clearly likes cheese here
WRONG! Someone clearly likes YOU guys here.
Finally, someone who actually enters the competition :). I’ll let it open for a few days but if it continues at this pace, you pretty much can consider yourself a winner.
Amazing! “Jeremy is wie Emmentalkäse” sounds better than saying: “Jeremy ist wie Velveeta – Amerikaner” :D
Hey matttk421! Congrats on a free Seedlang membership! Thanks for the nice and funny comment! :)
I’m jazzed!
My seedlang user id is seedlang at schmoto dot com
Cari, Janusz, and Jeremy are the greatest! (Second only, or maybe even equivalent, to Emanuel; how could anything be bette?!) I’ve already subscribed to Seedlang, and am having lots of fun with their videos and exercises.
RsKs81101, thanks so much for the nice words and for subscribing at Seedlang!
I went over to check out Easy German on Youtube and realised that I watched some of Cari & Janusz’s “German from the Streets” early in my explorations. I gave up on Youtube videos largely because they lacked any interactive qualities and if I was simply listening to someone, audio-books were easier and less choppy. However, watching the video and checking out the Seedlang site changed my mind completely. I am really excited about this new German learning resource! It fills in the gap that is currently missing in the online language learning sites that I have tried. I love the energy, enthusiasm and spirit that Cari, Janusz and Jeremy have brought into this project. Their energy is infectious and inspiring. Thank you, Emanuel, for drawing attention to such a worthy effort!
Lassi, thanks so much for the comment! This really encapsulates alot of what we are about and is very well said!
Based on your recommendation, I just looked up Easy German and watched the video about Seedlang. I realised that I did watch a few of Cari’s “German from the Streets” early on, but was discouraged from video language learning because of the lack of interactive content. Seedlang sounds like the program that will bridge the gap between passive watching and actual practice. I am very excited to try it out! I love the enthusiasm that Cari, Janusz and Jeremy are bringing into this project. Their energy is infectious and inspiring! I found myself binge watching several videos! Ack! I have other things to do today! Seriously though? Emanuel, thank you sincerely for introducing me to this wonderful resource!
Thank you for making such an effort so that people can learn German. You don’t have to… but you do… and that makes you awesome in my book! Vielen Dank!
Thank you so much for the awesome content. You guys are so dedicated!
Hi Guys,
I would like to thank all the people, that donated money to support the ones that can´t pay themselfs, like me.
When you give, you should also get, so I hope, that it pays for you in the future somehow else!
Hello, my name is Eli, and I am very new to this thanks to Emanuel and all of you people who have given a little extra money for people like me who for different reasons can’t afford it at this time. Learning German is very important to me, I hope it will transform my life and take it on a better path. This study network seems just wonderful and even fun! Once again thank you all and I wish everybody on here joyful upcoming celebrations.
Hello,
I would happily praise Jeremy (whom you call Jeremey once, by the way, sorry!) and Cari, but for the fact I’ve not yet had the chance to look up their blog. But I’m actually quite interested and will most likely subscribe “fruher oder spater” (I know there are umlauts missing, but my keyboard doesn’t have them!
Bis morgen!
Hallo Elsa,
Hi, thank you so much for your offer to help me! Unfortunately my keyboard doesn’t have the separate number keypad… Sorry I answered in English, I did understand what you wrote, but my German isn’t good enough (yet) to reply!!
Already subscribe to Easy German and find their exercises and vocab lists on Seedlang to be the best study tools. Really drills the grammar and vocab into me, but feels like a picnic. If Ema serves the best dessert in the form of language blog posts, then Easy German & Seedlang are the gourmet meal and entertainment all rolled into one!
The above is actually not an attempt to win, just an honest review, albeit a little cheesy. But once you‘ve „met“ Cari, Janusz and Jeremy (online) then you‘ll be writing schmaltzy reviews as well – they are charming, dedicated, churn out professional videos with impressive frequency and seem to have innate teaching skills that not even all schoolteachers (who get paid) have!
Seriously, subscribe to Easy German so that you also get access to their exercises on Seedlang. I don‘t know what we‘ve done to deserve their dedication to teaching us German, but it musta been sumfin‘ mighty good Indeed!
