(Mainly used in contexts of "increasing" the impact or intensity or area of an action. ALWAYS needs a direct object, so either "etwas" or "sich+Acc". )
I have the verb weiten as to widen, but as there is no dictionary entry do I take it that this verb is either rarely used and/or means someting different? thanks.
The only context I can think of making clothes wider. There might be a couple other phrasings, but it’s not like English “to widen”. I will add it to the dictionary, too, for completion, but I was focused on the more important ones first. Sorry for the glitchy layout by the way.
Glitchy? The only glitchy I have noticed is the odd question that has slipped through the net. I added a question about stätte for example. I also added a question about the verb versehen but for some reason I added it to the article about absehen. Regarding what you say about weiten, can i think of it as a word that never really got going/used?
Well maybe it was used more way back when, but for now, it’s nothing you need actively. And you’ll understand it in context if you do see it. I’ll check the other comments later :)
