aufspielen

(auf verb)

Meanings

1.
to install
(For some reason, "aufspielen" became a German technical term for installing operating software on a computer. NOT for games and apps, though. We use "installieren" for those. But the IT guy in the office might "aufspielen" an update.)
2.
to grandstand, to make a fuss
("sich+Acc aufspielen (als/wie)" - fairly common phrasing for the idea of someone making themselves out as more important than they are in a situation. You "play up yourself", if you will.)
