regarding the conjugation of schmeißen. I notice some dictionaries show conjuctions of schmeißen, schmeißten with ß following through all the forms of conjugation while others show schmeißen schmissen. Can you tell me where to look to see the current correct usage? thanks.
I have never heard or seen “schmeißten” and it sounds wrong to me.
However, Duden lists two different kinds of “schmeißen”. One is the “normal” word that’s about throwing and that does change its stem in the past, so it is “schmissen”.
The other one is about eagles and hawks taking a dump (not kidding) and the past of that one is apparently “schmeißten”. I have never heard of this verb before though, and I’m pretty sure I will not see it again soon.
