1.
to take up
(For space or figurative "real estate" like "portion of time of a meeting".)
2.
to take
(For medicine, or supplements that come in pill form (not idiomatic for less "medical" looking stuff like protein powder. "nehmen" alone is just as common for the context.)
3.
to conquer
(In the military sense, for areas, cities and so on.)
4.
to take in
(In the financial sense of taking in money.)
