das Substantiv, das Nomen

Nouns are basically pseudo group names for objects and beings. They’re the MAIN way to represent entities in speech, the other two being actual names and pronouns.

German nouns can have three genders and they’re ALWAYS capitalized in a text. It’s a special feature of German spelling rules, and I for one like it.
