Pronouns are stand-ins for entities that are already an established part of the conversation. Without them, we’d have to repeat nouns and names all the time.
There are various kinds of pronouns that differ in grammar and shape.

The most important ones are personal pronouns (I, you…) and relative pronouns (that, which, who).
