erfreuen

Meanings

1.
to delight, to elate, to please
(Sounds a bit formal/high register. Primarily used when meeting someone new ("Sehr erfreut.") in a formal setting or in a negative context of someone not being pleased.)
2.
to rejoice in, to take pleasure in
("sich + Acc erfreuen an+Dat" - not as high register sounding as the first meaning. Think of a person cherring themselves up by their hobby.)
