My favorite source for the origin of English words.

I’m thinking the meaning would cover the faces of youtube thumbnails of people reaction in astonishment surprise etc?
I was looking at this word cus I came across an example that seems to be about expressing a reaction to “cuteness”
“Wenn Dinge übermäßig klein sind , dann muss ich das Gesicht verziehen und eine Hand auf mein Herz….legen. Man hat mich immer problemlos von aller Böseartigkeit abbringen können, in dem man mir Miniaturen vorführte”
Oh you mean stuff like this?
That’s more than just “Mund verziehen”, that’s “Gesicht verziehen” :)
Your example sounds like it’s written by a doomer who’s using sacasm and irony to try being clever and also avoid showing/feeling vulnerability that being a normal human usually would entail. What the narrator means of course is “I have to smile”.
Of course, it’s the character that she is portraying in first person writing, not actually her.
Let me know if my analysis has any merit.
haha yeah,exactly.
Text is from a novel i just started reading, first person narrator. I’m not far enough to really have any opinions on the narrative voice etc yet….
