Nutzlose Frage: warum ist nicht abnehmen? Warum die Bindung mit dem Verb lehnen? Hast du ein yoga-mind-Bild für mich? Danke!
“abnehmen” ist immer noch “nehmen”, aber du nimmst ja genau NICHT. “abnehmen” bedeuted “to take something off of someone”.
Fuer die Verbindung mit lehnen… du lehnst dich weg von dem, was du nicht willst :)

danke :)
In a German-English dictionary I use, it says that an alternate meaning for “ablehnen” is “to disapprove of” / a synonym for “missbilligen.”
On this page, it just lists “to reject (an offer)” as the meaning for “ablehnen.”
Do people not use “ablehnen” in the “missbilligen” way very often?
Actually, yes, they do.
Like… mask mandates for instance would be a thing that people would use “ablehnen” for.
“missbilligen” is a bit different in that it just means that you say “I really don’t like this” but you may still go along with it.
“ablehnen” is more definite in this way.
