Hi everyone,

Advent Calendar 2024, day number 15, third of Advent.
And behind today’s door there is

A beautiful German Poem

Waiting to be made.
Like… the poem is waiting to be made.
It’s not there yet.
Although… if it’s waiting to be made that means it has to be somewhere. Like, in the ether or something, I don’t know. And it’s like “Duuuude, this is taking forever, when are they going to make me?”
Weird stuff.

But anyways, so today I want to do a little experiment and write a poem together – a comment poem.

Here’s what I am thinking:

I’ll start with one or two lines, and then one of you (or more than one) adds a line in the comments.
The next people see the comment and then add to that, and so on and so on.

What I think makes this particularly interesting is that more than one person will add a line in response to the same line, and also, I’ll have to approve some of the comments, so they’ll show up with a delay when the poem has already moved on
So we’ll have call backs and an overall really complex poem structure. Maybe it’ll even get a sort of chanting property, because of all the callbacks that’ll weave the same theme back in again and again.

Or maybe it’ll just be a mess :).

Now, since this a happening in a German Advent Calendar, there of course need to be some rules, so here we go.

Poem rules:

  • In German!
  • Only one line at a time! Can be short, can be long, but just one.
(You can contribute multiple times, of course)
  • ONLY use a “new” comment!! So please do not put your line into a reply to another comment. That would end up in chaos.

Oh and another thing – the comments are sorted oldest to newest, and that’s a sitewide setting so I don’t really want to switch it.
So you’re adding your line “above” the older ones.
You can change the order at the top bar of the comment section, if you want to.

Oh and as a little incentive, I’ll be giving away one of my new Prefix Verb Cards Games to a random person in the comments.

I think I’ll collect the poem and read it out later on in the Advent Calendar, so the longer the better :)

All right!
I think we’re all set, so … let’s do this.
Here’s my starting seed:

Das Einhorn steht allein,
im Schnee auf der Wiese im Wald.

Can’t wait to see how this is going :).

Have a great day and bis morgen.
