Hallo ihr lieben,
and welcome to the last door for this year’s Advent Calendar. And behind it is…
a crossword puzzle.
Yup, the title wasn’t clickbait for once :).
I made a (not so little) cross-word puzzle for you if you get bored over the holiday and want to do some light (or not so light) German. The words are revolving around winter, Christmas and the stuff we’ve learned in this Advent Calendar. It’s a bit tricky here and there, and my questions are not exactly straight forward, but if you’re skilled at mind bending and you’ve read all 24 posts then you should be fine :).
The whole thing is one pdf, so the puzzle itself and the questions. Just print it out and enjoy. And if you have questions (you will)… comment section is all yours.
Christmas Crossword Puzzle (pdf)
And that’s it… *sob. This was our German Advent Calendar 2017 and I really hope you enjoyed it and learned a lot.
I wish you all a wonderful Christmas time, (or normal time, if you don’t care about the holiday) and a great New Years and I’ll see you all in 2018 – the year of mastering German. Or in the comment section of course :).
Schöne Weihnachten und guten Rutsch,
euer Emanuel
Hilfe!
8) Ist das Kaffee?
37) Kann das Gute sein?
I mean, it could but I don’t think it was. It’s not natural for me to use an adjective with an ending like that without context.
But I have NO CLUE what it could be… kind of curious myself actually :)
Thinking about it, it might also be a mistake. So I might have forgotten to change the question after modifying the answer. It’ll forever be unsolved, I’m afraid :)
Actually, I am not sure about some of them because I don’t have the solutions anymore.
21: I think it is Lametta
22: yes, that#s definitely Wasser
24: yes, that’s got to be guuut
37: absolutely no clue :D
Sorry I can’t clear it up further, but the solutions are on an old computer and that’s in the trash :)
Vielen Dank für die schnelle Antwort und das neue Wort Lametta!
Hilfe, ich stecke seit einer Stunde fest in Nr. 1, 17, 24, 26, 30 :(
Okay, I’ll give you some hints:
1) this was part of the Advent calendar
17) this was part of last year’s advent calendar. Try searching for German Christmas cake and you shall find.
24) Not an official word. But used on Whatsapp like crazy. Or should I say craaaazy ;)…
26) that was part of last year’s Advent Calendar. There’s a special name for German Christmas Cookies. It’s a belittled “place” ;)
30) That one is quite simple… it’s what you get and give.
Do these help :)?
Happy and, most importantly, healthy 2018 because, as Seneca (the younger) said, ““Health is the soul that animates all the enjoyments of life, which fade and are tasteless without it.”
Guten Rutsch Emanuel! Dankeschon for your good work in maintaining this site for people who want to learn German. Your posts are always informative and the little insights into how words and phrases are used in everyday life is invaluable.
A healthy and happy new year to everyone who visits.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year for all the community and special thanks to Emanuel and those who donate for they have covered the other German learners. :)
Heartfelt thanks to all the Santas for helping me to take up this course .You all made it possible for me. Special thanks to dear Emanuel for providing a platform to all God bless.
Danke schön.
The pdf link doesn’t work anymore.
Charlie Joe: works for me – if I click on the “Christmas Crossword Puzzle” bit. The “(pdf)” bit isn’t active.
I am new to this website, clicked on the “not so well formatted pdf”, got “not found”.
must I become a member to download it? :)
No, I didn’t create pdfs for the Advent Calendar Posts, since they are super short. For this one, the REAL thing is the crossword puzzle and you can get that from the link in the text :)
Hope that helps.
Thanks Emanuel for all the great Advent blogs and this crossword puzzle. I’m a bit over half done but need to review my frierens! Merry Christmas to you and Happy New Year!!
Frohes Fest. Happy holidays.
Holiday happyness to you and yours :) well done with the advent emails, they have been great fun! It’s impressive the amount of time and effort you put into the posts and website, It’s a treasure trove of information. My German is currently at the level of a few good things to say to be polite. If you have any tips on polite things to say at the dinner table, in conversation, with the in-laws- let me know. Best wishes for the new year. Eve :)
Frohe Weihnachten!!! ☃️
Merry Christmas or whatever holiday or just a happy day to everybody! Looking out the window it feels more like September, but hey, at least Emanuel is here for us with the advent calendar!
(Instantly got number 6 in the crossword)
Merry Christmas,Emanuel. Thanks for your great site. Always informative and fun. Best wishes for 2018
This is the am bestens Adventskalender I’ve ever had! And not even fattening! Besides the great content behind every “Türchen”, at risk of sounding corny, it was really the enthusiasm and generosity behind the entire effort that made it so great! Not only Emanual’s hard work with each entry and in replying to our comments, but the authors that allowed him to spread their books and all the great comments from fellow German-is-Easy followers. Talk about true Christmas feeling! Thanks again and Happy New Year!
A very merry Christmas, Emanuel, and a prosperous New Year. Enormously grateful for each of the doors (stockings) of your Advent calendar. They have given me so much fun, as well as, I’m sure, for all our fellow learners that follow this blog. Such a variety of tasks and intriguing insights into the language. I hope you have a wonderful celebration of Christmastide in Berlin, such a lovely city which I look forward to visiting again.
Really enjoyed the daily emails and looked forward to a new topic every morning! Frohe Weihnachren und guten Rutsch!!!
